Let's be realistic... today's customers, especially in Saudi Arabia, don't have time to browse through 10 pages to find the product they want. The shorter and easier their journey through the store, the greater the chance they'll complete the order and actually buy it. Therefore, the "3 clicks" rule is considered one of the most powerful rules for designing a successful user experience.
2. Why "3 clicks"?
The goal of this rule is to enable customers to access any product in your store with a maximum of 3 clicks, regardless of its type or category.

• Reduces distractions
• Increases purchase rates
• Improves visitor experience
• Reduces exit rates without interaction
3. Step One: Organize Sections Smartly
The mistake many store owners make is too many subsections. Customers don't want to get lost!
Solution:
• Keep it simple. Categorize your products clearly, for example: "Water" - "Soft Drinks" - "Juices"
• Don't create more than two levels of classification: Main Category > Subcategory
4. Step Two: Smart Search Bar
The search bar must be clear, easy to use, and provide accurate results.
Important Tips:
• Enable automatic search or autocomplete
• Display images of products in search results
• Support searches using colloquial or common Saudi words (for example, "water" instead of "water")
5. Step Three: Featured Products and Suggestions
Make it easy for customers to find products without having to search too much.
Solutions:
• Display best-selling or on-sale products on the homepage.
• Add a "Products You Might Like" section.
• Let them add the product to their cart directly from the section page.
6. Practical Example:
Imagine a customer wants to buy a "small carton of water," and you apply the 3-click rule:
• First click: Enters the store.
• Second click: Selects the "Water" section.
• Third click: Clicks on the product and purchases it.
This way, we save them time and effort and increase the likelihood of a purchase.
7. Mobile Compatibility is Very Important.
Most visitors in the Kingdom use mobile phones. If your store design is complex on a small screen, even if you have the best products, the result is the same: the customer leaves.
Tip:
• Make sure the sidebar is clear.
• Make sure each section opens smoothly.
• Keep the main button (Cart - Buy) always visible.
7. Simplicity Sells
If you really want to increase your sales and reduce visitors leaving without purchasing, focus on reducing the number of clicks. Let them reach the product they want quickly and without thinking.
The golden rule?
3 clicks... and you'll get the customer to the checkout page.
