كيف تعرف إن تسعير منتجاتك يخوّف العميل بدل ما يشجعه

Many online store owners in Saudi Arabia set their product prices confidently, believing them to be "appropriate," and then wonder why sales are low or why customers add items to their carts and then give them away without completing the checkout process. The truth is, price has a significant impact on customer emotions, and if it's not calculated correctly, it can scare them away instead of encouraging them. In the world of e-commerce, price isn't just a number—it's a message, an impression, and a feeling. And this is where the real secret lies.

1. When customers quickly leave product pages

If you notice a visitor entering a product page, reading a bit, seeing the price, and then leaving in less than two seconds, this is a serious sign that the price isn't convincing. The price doesn't necessarily have to be high; it could be "disproportionate" to the perceived value of the product. In Saudi Arabia, customers prefer clear pricing that offers value for money. If the value isn't clear, the price automatically becomes daunting.

2. When customers see a significant price difference between yours and competitors' prices

Saudi customers are savvy and make frequent comparisons, especially if the same product is available at multiple stores. If a customer notices a significant price difference without a clear reason—such as higher quality or a longer warranty—they'll feel your store is overcharging. The price needs to be within the market range, or at least you should justify why it's higher. If there's no apparent justification, the price goes from "acceptable" to "exorbitant."

3. When the price is unclear or has too many options, confusing the customer:

For example:
- Price starts at…
- Price based on size…
- Price based on the number of items…
- Each option has a price that only appears after clicking

This raises customer suspicion: "What's going on? Why isn't it clear from the start?"

A clear price at first glance provides reassurance. Ambiguity breeds fear.

4. When the price doesn't match the product page design

Even if your price is excellent, a poorly designed product page will make the price appear much higher. People judge a price based on:

✔ Images
✔ Description
✔ Page design quality
✔ Information organization
✔ Reviews
✔ Overall trustworthiness

If the page is poorly designed and the price is high, it's natural for the customer to be suspicious. If the product page is excellent and the price is unreasonably low… then doubt will creep in. Balance is key.

5. When the customer suddenly sees additional charges

In many cases:

– The product price is excellent
– The customer gets excited
– They proceed to checkout
– Suddenly, an unclear shipping, service, or tax fee appears

This makes them suspect the store is hiding information and feel the actual price is higher than expected. In Saudi Arabia, clarity of details is crucial. Customers like to know the final price before clicking “Add to Cart.”

6. When the product is overpriced with no added value

Some merchants raise the price without adding anything… no longer warranty… no higher quality… no extra features. The customer senses the difference immediately. If they feel the product is “ordinary” but overpriced… they’ll run away immediately. But if they feel the product offers clear value—even if it’s more expensive—they’ll accept the price naturally.

7. When the price makes the customer compare it to more expensive products

Sometimes the price is very close to excellent products on the market. Example:

A regular product is priced at 230 riyals… while the competitor sells a much better product for 259 riyals.

Here, the price is intimidating because it makes the customer think: “Why should I pay close to the price of the better product?”

Pricing is one of the most important elements of success for an online store, especially in the Saudi market, which relies heavily on comparison and transparency. A clear, fair, and consistent price that matches the quality of the product is encouraging. An exorbitant, vague, or unjustified price is intimidating and deters customers from buying. If you're thinking of improving your pricing experience, optimizing your product page, and adjusting how prices are displayed, the Sahl platform can help you professionally enhance your entire store, turning pricing into a strength instead of a deterrent.
